Overcoming Trial

Galatians 5:25; If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Romans 8:1; There is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

If you go into almost any Spirit filled church today and the speaker says “raise your hands if you need prayer”, the chances are a large majority of people will put their hands up. Many will have very pressing and serious needs that are not being met. Others will be discouraged, afflicted, financial oppressed, heartbroken, etc.

In many instances, the Body of Christ is worse off than those of this world.

The main reason for this is that Christians have forgotten they are in a spiritual battle. We are accused day and night before God because we are judged in this time, and not in that time to come. So every time we yield to the temptation of the flesh, we bring ourselves back under the law where we can come under legitimate attack and condemnation.

Galatians 5:16-24 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

What is the secret to walking in the Spirit? It is spending time with God in prayer and the Word. One thing is 100% certain and that is if a Christian is going through real hardship and damaging trial (not that which God allows to refine us to a higher level), we can be assure that their prayer life is not where it needs to be. If you are facing a such a trial now, you need to spend more time with God. How much is enough time? Are you praying an hour a day, 2hrs, 3hrs? Are you fasting? Have you taken leave from work and fasted and prayed unceasingly for a week or more for revelation or breakthrough?

Because if something is so afflicting and traumatic, it requires a supreme amount of intervention to get the breakthrough. You need to move something in the spiritual realm so the change can manifest in the natural. Every breakthrough has got to start with a spiritual victory. Natural efforts alone are doomed to failure. “shake heaven and the earth will move out of its place.”

Here are a few tips for breakthrough in prayer.

1. Always ask God to convict you what you are doing wrong? Sometimes bondages (those of our own or from our forefathers) are hard to discern because they are part of our character. In this regard a 3 day water / juice fast is very beneficial
2. Ask God what the cause of the trial is. Sometimes the symptom is far removed from the cause. Dealing with symptoms (such as sickness or loneliness) is a waste of time. Press in and pray until you start to receive conviction of the cause.
3. Getting revelation of sin / the cause of our distress must automatically lead to repentance and renouncing of related sin or behavior /actions/ thoughts.
4. Prevail in prayer and ask God to remove the effects of those past works, not only for yourself but for others that have been afflicted by this.
5. Ask God to establish a new way forward and give you the strength not to succumb to the same temptations again. (the devil will earnestly seek to re-establish his authority in this regard)
6. Stop complaining and talking about your troubles. It afflicts others and you are in fact prophesying and establishing the same affliction further into your future. Rather prophesy and declare the things you seek to happen and the changes you are trusting God for. After all, “God establishes the words of his servants”
7. Forgive others to the level you want God to forgive you. If you cannot pray blessing onto those that have harmed you, you are still in bondage and dare not expect anything from God. Prayer for those that have harmed you until you have the love of Christ for them. Only then have you really forgiven and being set free from your own bondage of un-forgiveness and bitterness. Anything else is delusion.

A prevailing issue for Christians is that we measure sin and determine who is more at fault in a matter. If you are suffering or afflicted, you need to deal with your own issues and not worry about the other person. If you are only 1% at fault, deal with that 1% and receive your breakthrough. Get yourself back in line with the Spirit and you will see breakthrough. If you get this right you will not need someone else to pray breakthrough into your life; you will be living in Spirit and establishing perpetual breakthrough.

The big questions are…..
Are you desperate enough and willing enough to sacrifice enough time and effort to hear directly from the Holy Spirit?
Are you humble enough to take stock of the state of your heart and make changes?
Will you persist no matter what you are feeling, thinking or being told by others?

Most of us aren’t and that’s why we need others to step in and pray for us. But is really is a very poor 2nd choice.

Spiritual Warfare

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
We are strong in the Lord, when we are weak in the flesh. When we choose to not act in the flesh we allow the Holy Spirit to manifest through us in wisdom, knowledge, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues and interpretation of tongues through us – 1 Corin 12:7-11. When we yield and allow the Holy Spirit the authority to manifest through us, He overcomes the works of the devil.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
The devil has no power of his own, but he tempts us to act in the flesh or yield our authority to him so that he can resist the efforts of the Holy Spirit through us. We are the only resistance to the Holy Spirit; either through our yielding of authority to the devil or succumbing to temptation and acting in the flesh. This the only battle we need to focus on for the Holy Spirit to be victorious. The following scriptures of warfare in Ephesians 6 advise us how to facilitate this:

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Anything we do out of our own strength is a waste of time. Flesh cannot fight and overcome in the spiritual realm and real victories only come when when we achieve spiritual breakthrough. When God has authority through us he stirs us up to act and move something in the spiritual realm first, after which the breakthrough will manifest in the natural. Isaiah 13:13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place….

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Our role in this battle is to withstand and resist the devil

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
To resist the devil we firstly need to be walking in truth. Truth comes through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth. In other words we need to be in fellowship with God through the Holy Spirit. When in fellowship we rightly hear His voice and are led of Him, walking in truth.

and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Righteousness means ‘being right with God’. If God is convicting us of sin or of action, we need to respond. If it is sin, we need to repent, renounce, turn from that which God convicts us of. If God is convicting us to act or say something we need to respond in faith. The Spirit of God may be bringing the spiritual victory but he does it through the Body of Christ. Often a simple act of obedience from us is all it takes to allow God to bring a breakthrough.

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
The motivation for our journey into battle is to share the gospel message of Jesus Christ; his dying for our sins so that we can have eternal life. We do not share the gospel so that we can build a ministry / get an income / gain authority / gain preeminence. To have any personal motivation makes us ineffective and a hindrance to the Spirit of God working effectively and powerfully through us. Assess carefully the motivation for any works for the Lord. Are we led of the Spirit or led of the flesh.

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Faith is the elixir of the Christian walk. But faith comes through spiritual maturity and spiritual maturity comes through the making of our testimony which comes through yielding to God, which is possible as we get to know Him (through prayer and the Word). So if you want the shield of faith to be in place, spend time with God in the Word and in prayer. Your will get to discern His voice which will allow you to be led on a journey of faith, which will establish a testimony, which will in turn allow you to act in faith in the future. In this way we overcome the works of the devil. Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the
Let us not grow weary in this battle ‘for the end of our faith is the hope of salvation’. We are shaping the eternal destiny of others as we resist the devil and we should always bear this in mind as we labor in love. 2 Timothy 2 :10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The word of God is the written word, but Christ was also the Word made manifest. If God brings a word to remembrance or gives us a spoken word, we need to respond and act / speak it out in faith. We are made in the image of God and God spoke things into existence. We therefore can establish the will of God by speaking out the things he convicts us to say – be this in prayer, intercession, prophecy or proclamation. God establishes the words of his servants. Isaiah 44:26 That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers;

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Don’t pray in the flesh which is ineffective and without direction. If you are looking for breakthrough through prayer, hold no hardness in your heart towards anyone and forgive those that have harmed you. (If you have any bitterness in your heart towards any person, begin to intercede for them until you only have love for them. Once you have this, you are in a place to have powerful prayers). Thereafter draw close to God, shed all fear and anxiousness and pray as the Spirit leads, prevailing until the victory is established. James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Sometimes fasting is required to fully led of the Lord in the matter at hand.

By grace

Are you a Christian that knows this is the season of Grace?

The time for judgement will come, but right now we are in a season of grace through and by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

That means we do not judge anyone in the natural. Not gay people, not Muslims, not leaders of our country, not people of other political parties. We should judge no one. And they reason is… it is impossible to effectively intercede for, bless, be a witness and bring to Christ those that we judge. And when we judge we have become the accuser instead of the intercessor. We have allowed judgment to replace a little piece of grace within our soul. We have denied the Holy Spirit full authority and have rather given the accuser a foothold to subvert our thinking, our words, our actions.

And when the devil has a foothold, we suddenly find ourselves being a little more judgmental and critical in other areas; of those we work with or our family and perhaps even of our Lord and Savior. We move from a place of blessing and strength to a place of slavery and defeat.

There is no effective witness nor ministry where there is judgment of the unbeliever.

Mathew 7:1-2 Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Condemners, accusers and judges are the fake Christians of this age; modern day Pharisees. When you see them and hear them talk, don’t walk away from them. RUN FROM THEM! They will pollute your soul and bring you into bondage, making you ineffective for the Kingdom of heaven.

The key to being effective for the Lord is serving, giving, fasting and intercession. And when we are faithful enough in these endeavors God will open a door to witness and bring the offenders to Christ. That is the only option, the only solution. That is grace manifest through us.

Faith Without Works is Dead

James 2:17-18 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

What is God stirring you up to do at this very moment in time? What are you doing for the Kingdom of God? If you are doing nothing for the Lord, you need to ask yourself are you really under the authority of the Holy Spirit? Are you really in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ?

The Spirit of God gives each one of us gifts to empower us in the spiritual realm, fruit to manifest the goodness of Christ and a ministry to establish his Kingdom in some way. That is just the way it is… The Holy Spirit will continually move each one of us to pray for, minister to or help others, daily. And if not, we deceive ourselves by thinking we are Christians.

We are then like the servant in Matthew 25 who hid his talent when he was too afraid to respond to the leading of the Lord.

Matthew 25:26-30 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Each day there are people departing to hell for all eternity and we are the antidote. We, the Church, are the only solution God has in place to stop this separation from abundant life. Yet some of us are worried that we might be rejected, that somebody might take offense, or that we are too busy…! There is no excuse; we are all called to do some works by the Holy Spirit. It may be the simplest of things; an act of kindness, a support to others, a powerful ministry or persistent, daily prayer… but our faith, if it is indeed alive, will be demanding something of us daily.

If you don’t have a sense of what to do, then you are too far away from the Lord to hear Him. Give up the social media, the television, the making of money and doing of business, the shopping and the pursuit of happiness. Spend some time in fasting, prayer and in the Word. Eventually it will come ever so clearly. God will move you and in so doing you will find your real purpose in life; your true happiness.

Don’t quench the Spirit by rejecting His advances. Don’t resist acting out in faith.

Inner Healing

Have you ever found yourself in a cycle of failure, disappointment, suffering, rejection or abuse? Chances are you need inner healing. The saying “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me” is the biggest lie ever spoken. The psychiatry wards are not filled with people who have been physically beaten, but by people who have been verbally tormented, abused and cursed and medicine are more often than not prescribed for mental conditions.

God spoke everything into existence and acted on the spoken words of His prophets. In the New Testament the Word took on flesh and the power of God was made manifest through Jesus Christ. And God says if we can control our tongues we are a perfect man. This is because our words are the evidence of the state of our hearts and what we speak is ultimately what we become. Because words have power.

The power of words is increased dramatically when there is authority behind those words. A parent speaking to a child, a spouse to a partner, a teacher to a student, a boss to an employee, a Spirit led Christian to a demon, a person cursing them-self… When there is authority and power, things begin to change and come in line according to the spoken word.

If anyone, especially those that have legitimate authority to do so, curses you,(speaks evil about you, prophesies a negative future for you, or condemns you) there will be an impact on your future. If you openly state something negative about yourself, your capabilities, your future, you have established your destiny in some way.

If your parents, grand parents or even great grandparents have made vows, uttered curses or yielded to demonic/spiritual authorities, their actions will have an impact on your life.

If you have been to a spiritualist, shaman, clairvoyant, witch doctor or other spiritual practitioner, you have allowed your destiny to be redirected.

If a doctor, psychiatrist or other practitioner has pronounced a curse upon you, you have allowed your destiny to be altered.And if you are taking mind altering drugs, your perception is being clouded and you may be opening yourself up to demonic interference.

If you have experienced trauma, rape, violence or other highly stressful situations, you may have received spiritual impartation and bondage in the process.

If you have yielded to eastern philosophies, exercises and sports,which all have a root in spiritual and occultic practices, you have allowed a spiritual yoke to be placed upon your neck and your destiny.

If you listen to dark and violent music and mouth the words as you sing, you are cursing your destiny.

If you have joined a secret society or group, made oaths and vows, you have cursed and altered your destiny.

If you have had sex outside of marriage you have received spiritual impartation from your partner. Not only is there a spiritual yoke connecting the two of you, but every spiritual authority running through his /her bloodline now has legitimate access to your life.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us

What is the solution for recovery?

1. Fast 1 day on water.
2. End of day spend an hour asking God to bring to mind every decision,word and action that has contributed to your current suffering.(write it down)
3. Ask God to reveal everything you you have said and done to others that you need forgiveness for (write it down)
4. Ask God to reveal every person and word that has been spoken against you and to you and every action that has been carried out against you that has contributed to your current suffering(write it down)

5. Confess your sins, renounce them and ask God for forgiveness for everything that He reveals to you. This includes the ungodly responses you have when people committed evil against you. (yes even if you were 1% at fault – God is interested in your 100% recovery)
6. Forgive those that have harmed you.(you know when you have truly forgiven them when you can pray for their well-being and salvation without resentment – until then you have not forgiven them) You cannot have a single normal relationship if you have any bitterness in your heart to any person.
7. Pray for restoration and wisdom in future decisions.

If at first you don’t see total success, increase to 3 days / repeat weekly until there is complete recovery.
Then give thanks and share your testimony.
