The Consequences of Sin

breaking chanins

1 Samuel 15:23-24 “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king. And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.”

This is not God being difficult or mean, its simply that our destiny is set on a different path when we reject the Holy Spirit and yield to another authority. When we choose sin, God is cut off and His plan rejected for that area of our life. A blindness comes in and our perceptions, our thinking and our actions are altered. This often leads to excuse for actions or being led further down the same path with devastating consequences. Worst of all we may never be able to receive the conviction of our errors.

In rejecting God’s word because of his fear of others, Saul would never again be in a place to be led of God. His decision had changed his destiny and that of all his offspring forever.

The culture of backsliding in the Church of the west is endemic and this is mostly due to false teaching and poor doctrine. Christians don’t understand the consequences of rejecting the leading of the Holy Spirit, which under the new covenant is sin. Forgiveness may come, but the consequences of rebellion can last a lifetime.

Consider that single act of rebellion by Eve and all the suffering it has caused in the world to understand the potential consequences of your next action. Do you know that the temptation you choose to give into today, will change your destiny forever and impact your children and their children? They will be faced with the same temptation that you are and will most likely follow the path you are setting before them today.

Its not just the consequences of the action, but it is the amount of effort that is required to bring about restoration thereafter. Each time we err we take a step down into a pit of bondage that we must one day climb out of if we are to have restoration in our lives. Each time we stumble, each day we delay, we fall deeper into that pit of destruction, further away from the voice and leading of God. There is no static place; we are either coming into restoration or moving further into bondage, making it harder to recover.

Today, don’t take that first step of compromise, don’t give in to the pressure from others. Stand fast in that which you know is right. And if you have fallen, don’t delay the decision for restoration. Tomorrow will be harder; today is the day of restoration, today is the day of healing.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Spirit of Mammon

mammon

As a Christian have you ever questioned the teaching of giving 10% of your income or tithing your money to the church? You might be surprised to know that there is no such instruction in the Bible to give 10% of your money to anyone. In fact this teaching could rightly be classified under “doctrines of devils.”

Under the covenant of the Old Testament God gave the Hebrews the natural land of Palestine and the land produced crops and other means to generate and live a particular way of life. The first increase of that land, the ‘tithe’, was always for the priesthood and the work of the temple. The Jews however could not keep the Old Covenant and when Christ came to replace the old with a new covenant, the natural land of Palestine and the natural temple were also superseded.

They are not totally irrelevant in that they do still have a spiritual revelation and application for the Spirit led believer, but they are irrelevant in the sense that they no longer have a literal application for Christians under the new covenant.

Under this new covenant our inheritance is not the land of Palestine but it is a heavenly land; the soil is our hearts in which the seeds of the Holy Spirit are sown and which, through obedience and faithfulness, bring forth spiritual gifts, the fruit of the Spirit and a ministries. To offer our tithe is to offer the first and best of that spiritual increase God has sown and established in our lives, for the work of the Lord. If we have received the gift of prophecy, or if we bear the fruit of love, we should put our first and best efforts to use these for increase of the Kingdom of God. This and this alone is the tithe.

The only thing of value we can give to the Kingdom of God is that which God has given us first; our spiritual increase. Matthew 22:21 Then saith he (Jesus) unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.

In this dispensation there is longer a select group for the priesthood, but as believers we are all part of the priesthood.1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Each one of us is giving an increase to serve God and increase the kingdom in some way. If we do not exercise this gift and give back to increase the Kingdom of God, we have effectively withheld our tithe.

John 15:5-6 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

God however often convicts us to give money to others in need and this is a freewill offering and can be anything from a few cents to all that we have depending on what God convicts us to give. There is no prescribed 10% and God will certainly not expect us to go into debt to make such an offering. And we should never give money out of a desire or expectation that God will respond by giving more back to us. In doing this we effectively make mammon the motivation for giving and we therefore come under the spirit of mammon. This is directly contrary to giving according to the conviction of the Spirit of God.

This is the way we give: A need is revealed to us and we give according to what God convicts us to give. Unfortunately many wealthy people are not close enough to God to receive conviction to give or they are under bondage to the spirit of mammon and are blinded in this area.

Our giving should not be in a deceitful manner (for any gain or authority) nor for a show unto others. We should also understand that the value God sees in our giving is directly proportional to how much we have in relationship to how much we give. So the poor woman who offered the least was in God’s eyes the biggest giver. Mark 12:41-43 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury.

If our giving is to those that we are receiving spiritual food from this is also good in the eyes of God; natural for spiritual.1 Corinthians 9:11-14. If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

The deviation in doctrine comes in when we are encouraged to give 10% of our income as a tithe which ultimately leads to the building a natural empire. This has been a great problem in the Church from the earliest of days and many Spirit filled Christians have been tempted to build a natural empire at the expense of the true work of the Lord. It is not possible to build in the natural and the spiritual at the same time and it is not possible to focus on the spiritual and the natural kingdoms at the same time. The more you have of one, the less you have of the other. The natural kingdom may bring an increase in numbers, but it will never bring spiritual depth.

Not only is this offensive to God, but it has caused much condemnation from those from outside of the Church. In reality this doctrine is simply the non-sanctified desires of the carnal man at work; seeking greater eminence and position, bigger ministries and greater personal wealth. Out of this deceitful doctrine comes another great distortion within the Body of Christ; churches putting themselves in authority over other churches through their increased wealth, position and natural power. Invariably other churches begin seeking a spiritual covering from these more powerful and ‘successful’ than themselves, which is effectively a covering other than that of Christ. They submit themselves and their fellowships to other men.

Isaiah 30:1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin.

Spiritual Immaturity

Isaiah 3:12 As for my people, children are their oppressors and women rule of them. O My people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of they paths.

One of the biggest problems with the Christian church in this day and age is lack of spiritual maturity. And where there is spiritual immaturity there is always lack of discernment and increased reliance on natural senses and logic.

The church is now led by the spiritually immature and the weak and their actions are currently sowing great evil for the future. I liken these people to Edmund in The Chronicles of Narnia, desperate to appease the flesh having no concept of the real matters at hand nor the consequences that must follow.

Take for example the matter of the Bible. For centuries the KJV has been good enough to incite revivals and hold the church together. Then came a season of compromise and weakness in the Church which allowed immature Christians to rise up, gain and exercise authority. From this season many false doctrines were birthed including a proliferation of new, patented Bibles and new ways to read and analyse the Bible. Of course all these beliefs, changes and ‘innovations’ never add value to the Body because they were birthed out of pride and natural intellect. Their only contribution with hindsight is to sow division, bring the word into disrepute, to contest the validity of the scriptures and to deny the accuracy of the Word. False claims arose as to who wrote which books, which manuscript came first or what should be left out or not, but all are without scientific backing and they did not profit one bit. Meanwhile many souls have been lost as the devil routinely invokes the many ‘conflicting versions of the Bible’ accusation, suggesting the Bible is compromised, the work of man and therefore cannot be the Word of God, nor inspired by God. And if the Bible is not true or accurate, what of the rest of the Christian faith?

So with one of act of arrogance and pride, many souls are lost today and in the future. The Edmunds of this day and age thought they knew better, produced a new version, and we ended up with something that added nothing of value. This is true of so many things that now prevail and have authority within the church. To name but a few:
– the introduction of carnal music in place of spirit led praise and worship; appeasing the flesh and opposed to glorying God
– the false teachings of the tithing of money
– natural courses and secular type education used to ordain and appoint leaders as opposed to appointing leaders through the leading of the Spirit
– the use of psychology, psychiatry and pharmaceuticals into the Church
– the enforcement of democracy and equality within the Church. God has an order that is opposite to the ways of this world
– the endless supply of ministries, books, videos and social media making merchandise out of the gospel
– the building of natural empires as opposed to spiritual treasure

The immature have hijacked the church for their own glory, power and wealth. Hardly anyone can discern these errors and the rest no longer care. Meanwhile every carnal act, every immature decision, has ongoing consequences for the Body of Christ as well as the unsaved.

Christian Activists need to rise up and begin to contest these false teachers, doctrines and ministries wherever hold sway over the Body of Christ. Paul was not afraid to rebuke Peter for his carnal actions and we should all get our voice back to change that which is contrary to the gospel. After all the most zealous for God have been doing it for 2000 years.

When Christian leaders err

Christianity in the west is in a time similar to that of King Ahaz. Ahaz chose to give lip service to the commandments of the Lord and invariably followed the blueprint that the secular world was espousing. The gods of Syria seemed more successful so Ahaz decided to reject God’s ways and choose the Syrian way. He ‘cut up the vessels of the house of God and shut the door of the house of the Lord and made alters in every corner of Jerusalem”.

Never once did he think he possibly might be contrary to God in all these decisions; after all he was the King of Judah. Its the arrogance that creeps in when leaders lose their dependency on God and become self driven. They don’t want to wait on the Lord, they want success now and they determine success by the standards of this world and not by God’s standards. Pretty soon their ‘success’ is the success that the world recognizes. The fact that they are no longer a success in God’s eyes no longer bothers them as they have a new blueprint for success. And no one dare question or rebuke them for their carnality. They are now Lord and no man or God should dare question their actions or decisions. They are the anointed.

That’s the Church in the west in this age; its full of Ahaz’s. Puffed up by their high visibility, their wealth and status they have unwittingly closed the door of the house of the Lord to all that follow them and they cannot see it. The praise and worship in their house resembles that of the ungodly, their ministries are man made programs of little spiritual value, their works are directed towards gathering mammon, overseeing natural assets and their is little time for establishing spiritual maturity in followers or saving of souls. Of course there are many followers as their ears are tantalized with positive messages, encouragements and false promises. That they offer no lasting impact or spiritual growth is irrelevant. Each week they are drawn back simply to survive (and part with their money) and hardly any mature or produce fruits of their own. They become slaves to man, instead of servants of the Lord.

Paul rebuked Peter at the first sign of compromise towards the gospel, yet in this day and age there is hardly a leader willing to give a rebuke to leaders that err, never mind one that could receive a rebuke and get correction. Thank God revival is coming soon.

The coming revival through Christian Activists

revival

A Christian Activist is an agent a change; a member of the Body of Christ working from within the faith to return the Body back to the original path. Revival is coming, but not through the established churches. Its coming through individuals , through Christian Activists. What are the signs of a Christian Activist;

  1. Activists are non respecter of persons. Christian activist treats all people equally from the greatest to the smallest. Position, wealth and power, if anything are a sign of spiritual weakness; the evidence of a life following after the treasures of this world, rather than the treasures of the world to come.
  2. Activists are doers of the Word and not only professors of the Faith. Their lives manifest the message of the Bible instead of being a rod of accusation and judgement towards others. They judge only those within the faith and are a beacon of hope and light to those that are without. Activists are not afraid to expose and challenge false doctrine and ungodliness within the Body of Christ.
  3. Activists do not compromise the gospel nor themselves for the sake of fame, fortune or ministry. There is no building of ministries or income through the use of the gospel, no need for secular doctrines and programs. Making merchandise out of the gospel is not an option.
  4. The only footprint activists leave on this earth are imbedded in the hearts of mankind. There are no buildings, monuments, denominations ministries or titles worth having. All are forsaken for the spiritual increase of humanity.
  5. Christian Activists to not take ownership of what God is doing through them. There are no patents, trademarks, licensing selling or buying of that which God has freely given and done through them.
  6. Christians Activists do not take offense on behalf of God nor do they fight in the natural on His behalf. Rather their weapons are spiritual, mighty to change, powerful to establish the Kingdom of God in this world, knowing that love overcomes all things.
  7. Christian Activists do no make themselves leaders of other, but servants. They do not gather masses for their own enrichment, but they continually empower others to draw close to God, to be effectively used by God, for the glory of Christ and the increase of his kingdom.
  8. Christian Activists are committed to fasting, prayer, reading the the Word and ministering to others. There is always a spiritual goal they are working towards, a goal that sees family, neighbours, colleagues, friends and strangers coming to Jesus Christ.
  9. Christian Activists are not bound by man made boundaries; by denominations and doctrine. Nor are they swayed by race, gender, age, belief or religion. They are open to the Spirit of God for all people, for every opportunity that is presented.
  10. Christian Activists live righteous lives; lives without compromise; lives that bring glory to their heavenly Father. All action, all speech, all works are aligned with the message of Jesus Christ.
