A lost opportunity to share the Gospel

gay evangelism

Have you ever been so desperate to pull others out of the fire of hell (Jude 23) that you will compromise yourself to bring others to Christ. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:18-23 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Here is a man who would do almost anything to bring others to Christ. yet in this day and age the church is almost just the opposite... conditioned to be selective in its morality and its focus. I'm referring to the homosexual community which is totally rejected by the Christian faith. Christians cannot bake cakes for gay marriages, cannot sign marriage certificates of gay couples, judge and condemn them continually; they are the scourge of the Christian faith it seems. Now before the zealous jump up and down in condemnation, I am not in favour of gay marriage or homosexuality. In my opinion it is a destructive lifestyle with little peace or joy and there are very real external reasons that lead people into this lifestyle. But I have to say the hypocrisy of the church on this matter stinks to high heaven.

If one should actually study the story of Sodom and Gomorrah one might be surprised to see the main sin before God in the matter was pride. Can you imagine judging a businessman or celebrity with the same zeal because of their pride and arrogance. "I cannot bake a cake for your wedding because I perceive your pride. My faith will not let me" And how many couples are denied a cake by Christian bakers because they are having sex outside of marriage? You hypocrites, bake the bloody cake. If you feel so strong about their lifestyle lay hands on the dough and pray the Holy Spirit will convict them at each mouthful. Minister love and peace at every opportunity. Be the light in this dark world. Have you not been told this is not the time for judgement?

You hypocrite pastors who refuse to marry gay people, yet marry all others who are living a life in adultery. Were you not warned to not be a respecter of persons? (James 2) If you truly serve the living God then make use of the opportunities the change in the law has presented you; for indeed God has appointed the leaders who make the laws of the land which you are compelled to adhere to (Romans 13). Rather offer 12 week marriage courses to these gays couples, minister to them, evangelize them and be Christ to them, because it is probably the only chance they are going to get to avoid hell. Alternatively throw stones from a distance and let God determine if you have made a good investment with what you have been given for the works of ministry.
